Adverbs. What are adverbs? Adverb tells us more about a specific thing.

1) An adverb tells us more about a verb. It explains how an action is carried out.
Example (from the song):
IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT, YOU SOFTLY SAY 'YES,YES'
- In this sentence, the adverb 'softly' explains how the action saying 'yes, yes' is carried out. How do we say 'yes, yes'? We say it softly.

2) An adverb tells us more about an adjective.
Example (from the song):
IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU UNKNOWINGLY CRYING INSIDE
 - In this sentence, 'unknowingly' explains on how we are crying it. We cry it unknowingly, without we notice.

3) An adverb tells us more about another adverb.
Example:
She sings very beautifully.
- In this case, 'very' is an adverb and 'beautifully' is an adverb too. 'Very' emphasize on how 'beautifully' she sings.

4) Most adverbs are usually formed by adding '-ly' to an adjective.
Example (from the song):
LOUDLY, SOFTLY, SURELY, UNKNOWINGLY, PROBABLY, JOYFULLY.

5) Some adverbs do not end in '-ly'.
Example (from the song):
ALWAYS, SOMETIMES.

6) Some words can be used both as adjectives and adverbs without any change in form.
Example:
Please come early for your medical checkup.

7) An adverb shows the frequency of how things are done.
Example (from the song):
IF YOU SURELY HAPPY, AND YOU SELDOM SHOW IT OFF
- 'Seldom' indicates the frequency.

8) An adverb can be used in the comparative and superlative forms by adding 'more ... than' and 'the most ...'
Example:
A professional walker can complete the race more quickly than an amateur walker.

9) An adverb also can show the location/place.
Example (from the song):
IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU UNKNOWINGLY CRYING INSIDE
Other examples includes: Inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs etc.
